Bondage S&M and spanking gear has traditionaly been made from heavy duty black leather hide with lots of steel fittings , tastes are now changing and BDSM equipment has been seen in various new exciting colours and materials.
My preferred colour for my bondage gear collection is black ,A trend seems to have been made by people who want to break away from the traditional fetish look and now choose other colours such as a deep red or maroon (known as ox blood) Light tan or even navy blue.This makes their bondage gear collection look more kinky and exclusive in their eyes.
A Dominatrix friend of mine had an extensive collection of bondage gear made in black leather, but the she decided that this colour was old school in her opinion, hence decided to change all of her dungeon bondage and discipline equipment in her favourite colour of blood red, over 100 items.
It took my workshop at Strictlyleather nearly a month to make all of her bondage gear to her specifications, but I must agree that the change really worked for her.
Her dungeon looks great now and perhaps more sinister.
Suspension harnesses are another favourite in the bondage equipment scene with the easily availability of cheap electric hoists now available on the open market, sold in supermarkets and discoubt tool stores.
I noticed recently that a local super market was selling such hoists for as little as £45.00 in the tools section, ideal for use with your leather suspension bondage gear.
My advice is to be very careful if suspension is of interest to you. Choose a strong hanging location and use the correct bondage equipment made for suspension.
It is not wise to invert your sub and hang them by the ankles as accidents could cause damage to the neck or head, but no matter what, some people will experiment in this practise.
The care of your bondage gear is of up-most importance and regular safety checks must be made to all of your bondage equipment.
Check the steel buckles on a regular basis and any rivets that secure the leather straps. Standard wrist and ankle cuffs are only intended for restraining purposes during your bondage sessions, Leather bondage cuffs are best used for long periods of restraint as I have found that steel manacles and cuffs can lead to serious damage to blood vessels and nerves in the wrists and ankles.
In some cases the fingers or wrists go numb and this could lead to permanent damage resulting in medical advice and itervention being needed.
The possibilities of what can be used as bondage gear is endless and it can be great fun just walking round your DIY hypermarket and spotting something useful for your next discipline punishment and total bondage session.
